Goodbye Yeti 5k/10k a success
With a winter storm warning lingering through the night, the fog cleared Saturday morning to reveal a pleasant day for us to chase the winter away. If he didn’t know it before, the Western Yeti knows now that it’s okay to go hibernate until next winter.
A huge thank you goes out to all the sponsors and volunteers who helped make it a fun and successful event. Get your gas and chocolate milk at Crossroads, and be sure to check out the County Press for coverage of the event.
Check out the group pictured here in their serious group pose for the squad spirit competition. Other squads represented well in a variety of ways. We will celebrate them at the start of practice.

The Upcoming Week

First of all, with quarterly exams this week, remember to put the student in student-athlete. Approach your school work with the level of focus and preparation it deserves, and you will earn the academic success you deserve.
We’re in week two of the preseason, and
we’re looking forward to doing some solid work outdoors. We will begin practice by meeting briefly in the cafeteria, before we go outside to warm up and workout. Be sure to dress for the weather. And bring a towel. And some water.
The spring season is short in duration, but we can break it into three segments. The day after we return from spring break, we host Marshal in a dual meet. The dual meet season lasts until mid-May. From the Regional Finals to the State Finals and beyond is what we call the championship season.

So, we’re looking forward to a good week of training, and working toward our goals.

Speaking of Goals

Our foundational goals for each and every athlete in the program are 1. consistently improve, and 2. consistently compete. Once we get into meets we can measure this by 1. setting a PR and 2. placing higher than you were seeded. Year in and year out, these individual goals have led our teams to earn the kind of success that comes from being invested in the progress you make, and from helping those around you do the same.

Apparel Order Forms and Other Handouts

Sweats and warm-ups are listed at some very reasonable prices. That order form is due Monday, filled out with a check or money order.

Uniforms can be purchased through an online store. The school does have uniforms to hand out, but we make them available for purchase by athletes who want to ensure they have a newer uniform that fits well.

Other handouts include the season schedule, guidelines and expectations, and frequently asked questions.

Thanks everyone. This week let’s continue to work to be the best versions of ourselves.

Sincerely,
Coach Sponsler
