JV Week 9 Recap
The Western JV Football team overcame a slow start to defeat Dexter by a score of 43-32 and finish their season 7-1. The visiting Panthers were behind 25-7 in the second quarter. With a couple minutes remaining in the half, the Panthers scored on a Levi Falde TD run to cut the Dreadnaught lead to 25-14, going into the half.
The motivated Panthers stormed out of halftime and got a key defensive stop, followed by a touchdown in the first two minutes of the third quarter on a Falde pass to slot back James Bloomfield. Ian Devine’s PAT was good, and the Panthers cut the score to 25-21. Another Falde to Bloomfield hook up put Western in front for the first time of the night. The offensive onslaught continued with the Panthers stretching their lead on a Falde to Landon French td pass. Unfortunately, the sound of the Dreadnaught cannon was heard once more, as a long pass set up the only Dexter score of the second half.
Mason Wetzel then covered the Dexter onside kick and Bloomfield and the Panther offensive line salted the game away. Bloomfield scored his 4th touchdown of the evening on an off tackle run out of the full house package. The hard earned victory demonstrated the resiliency that the team had shown all season long. Great job guys!!
