The Lady Panthers played their final game of the season on Wednesday night, facing a tough team from Northwest. The Panthers headed into District game #2 after defeating Olivet by 24 points in game #1. The Lady Panthers came out with a strong start and stayed right with the Mounties for the first quarter. The Panthers also won the third and fourth quarters against the Mounties. Unfortunately the second quarter told a different story and the Panthers let the Mounties run the floor and take a fourteen point lead heading into halftime. Even though the Panthers never gave up, the hole they dug in the 2nd quarter was too big for them to dig out of. They ended up losing by 8 points 41-49.
The Mounties did a good job shutting down our shooters with aggressive defense, but Natalie Shellberg had a tremendous finish to her season with 8 points and 12 rebounds. Alyna Lewis had 6 points and 8 rebounds. Hillary Griffin and Ashley Oliver both ended with 5 points, Lilli Luma, Chelsea Hurt and Reece Hitt contributed 4 points each, while Faith Raines, Hayden Fortress and Brynn Kennedy added some points to the final score.
The Lady Panthers had a tremendous season and met all of their goals. They had the first winning season in 15 years – that’s something to be proud of and they did this with great attitudes, hard work and dedication. Things are looking bright for the future, we will miss our seniors and wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors. Final record 11-10! Go Panthers!!!
