Parma Western traveled to Grosse Pointe Woods on Saturday to compete in a triple dual against Allegan (1st in D4), Rochester & University Liggett (2nd in D4). Despite being a couple weeks since the guys have had a match, they competed well at all flights.
With Allegan, the Panthers lost a close match 3-5. 2 Doubles of Nic Archer and Brennan Kim continue to battle through close matches and come out winners. Cameron Blakemore and Paul Buchholz were also victorious at 2 and 3 singles. Both have continued to thrive despite being their first year playing singles.
Rochester is a very tough D1 school in which the boys battled at each flight. Jon Shaw had a big win at 1 singles (6-3, 6-1). This is Sam Dietsch’s first year playing high school tennis and he battled at 4 singles to grab his first win (4-6, 7-6(5), 10-7). 3 and 4 doubles lost tight matches in 3rd set super tiebreaks.
Lastly, Parma tied Liggett 4-4 for the last match of the day. Both 2 & 3 singles as well as 2 & 3 doubles were victorious for Western. 1st and 4th doubles both had extremely close matches but struggled to close out the match.
This week, Parma Western will battle Northwest on Monday at home as well as Battle Creek Pennfield at home on Wednesday. Matches start at 4:30 p.m. Come out during the week to support the guys. If you cannot make those… no problem. We also have a home tennis invite on Saturday. Plenty of tennis for you to come and enjoy!
