Boys Varsity Tennis · Varsity Tennis Wins I8 Conference!

On Friday, the boy’s competed in the I-8 Conference Tournament. Western won 7 of the 8 flights! The guys have been playing some excellent tennis lately and proved it with a dominant performance on Friday. Not only were they undefeated in conference-play all season… but they also finished 1st overall after Friday’s tournament. Jon Shaw played Lumen Christi’s Matthew Mogle in the championship round for 1 singles. He lost to him in the regular season but was able to come back in the 3rd set during Friday’s tournament to win the championship at #1 singles! All of Western’s doubles flights were extremely dominant on Friday. No doubles flight dropped a set all day!
Saturday, Western competed in a tri with Williamston and Dewitt. Western was able to beat Williamston (10th in D4) by a score of 8-1. Additionally, they were able to sneak a win against Dewitt 5-4. The singles players had an excellent day not dropping a set in either match. Sam Dietsch played a couple of “marathon” matches and came out victorious in both.
The Panthers travel to BC Lakeview on Tuesday for a dual match as well as the regional tournament hosted by Chelsea on Thursday.
