The Western Middle School Cross Country team had a great showing on Tuesday against Coldwater, Pennfield, and Northwest. The boys dug in and raced their way to a 1st place overall finish as a team. The girls tried just as hard, but came up short to Coldwater with a 2nd place team finish. The boys raced against 49 boys and were led by Ryan Good(6th grade- 3rd place), Samuel Heydenburg(6th grade-4th place), Edison Lopeman(7th grade-5th place), Seth Good(8th grade-6th place), and Josiah Miller(8th grade-9th place). The girls raced against 41 girls and were led by Marina Walz(8th grade-5th place), Shelby Smith(6th grade-7th place), Ella Wilcox(6th grade-8th place), Mara Bivens(6th grade-9th place), and Addison Singleton(8th grade-10th place). There were a total of 16 Personal Records set on Tuesday. AnnaKay Marshall had a significant drop of 6 minutes on her time, Emrick Boobyer with a 2 minute drop on her time, Amelia Lynd and Melaina Magnusson each had a 2 minute drop on their times. The boys had the brothers, Connor and Isaac Chilson each shaved 30 seconds off of their best times. Great work WMSXC! The Western Panthers will finish their short season on Wednesday at Harper Creek.
